Gates to Success in the Division of Academic Engagement & Student Achievement is committed to serving first-generation college students across the university from all levels and majors to help students achieve a meaningful educational experience at San Diego State University. 

Our Mission

To build community among our first-generation college student population and campus/community advocates in order to help support and advance first-generation college student success at SDSU and beyond graduation.

We serve students by connecting students to mentorship programs, campus resources and a variety of transformational opportunities such as:
 
  • internships
  • leadership opportunities
  • national scholarship and fellowship opportunities
  • research
  • study abroad
  • service-learning
